I was talking to a friend and fellow artist earlier this week and the topic was mentorship. We were just discussing it in general and I was explaining how I think it would be nice to have one, but it is not a necessity. It makes sense for the previous and more experienced generation to pass along its wisdom and knowledge, and that does sound very nice on this end too! I have never had any type of artistic mentor though, so I wanted to ask you all your thoughts on it. Do you have a senior who you share a relationship with that cultivates guidance and growth, and how do you like it? If you don't, do you wish you were a part of one? I still believe that it is not needed, but very helpful.
Another plus is that growing through it on your own may make you a young king/queen:
